Einleitung

Diese Anleitung zeigt dir, wie du Heißschrumpfschlauch anwenden kannst, um z.B. ein beschädigtes Kabel neu zu isolieren.

2-13mm 2:1 Heat Shrink Tubing

Schritt 1

Miss den Durchmesser des Drahtes, wähle dann ein Stück Heißschrumpfschlauch, welches dick genug ist, um vor dem Erhitzen grade so über den Draht zu passen, aber nach dem Erwärmen einen festen Sitz ergibt. Der Durchmesser nach dem Schrumpfen sollte etwas kleiner sein, als der Draht dick ist.
Solche Heißschrumpfschläuche haben ein Schrumpfverhältnis, welches angibt, um wieviel der Schlauch später enger wird, daher ist es wichtig den richtigen auszuwählen. So wird ein Schlauch mit dem Verhältnis 2:1 später von einem Durchmesser von 2 mm auf 1 mm schrumpfen.

Schritt 2

Miss die Länge des Heißschrumpfschlauches etwas länger als die beschädigte Stelle des Drahtes.
Die meisten Heißschrumpfschläuche schrumpfen auch etwas in der Länge (etwa 5% bis 15%), lasse deswegen genügend Länge, so dass wirklich die ganze Schadstelle bedeckt bleibt.

Schritt 3

Mit einer Schere kannst du den Schlauch auf die gewünschte Länge zurecht schneiden.

Schritt 4

Schiebe den Schlauch über die Schadstelle, so dass er sie ganz überdeckt.

Schritt 5

Schrumpfe den Schlauch mit einer Heißluftpistole.
Bewege dabei die Pistole hin und her, bleibe nicht zu lange auf einer Stelle stehen, da sonst Schäden entstehen können.
Fahre so lange damit fort, bis der Schlauch gut sitzt.

Est-ce qu’il y a un moyen d’utiliser une gaine thermorétractable sans l’enfiler, par exemple si on a un connecteur non démontable à chaque extrémité, genre câble USB ? Peut on la couper dans le sens de la longueur et la recoller d’une manière ou d’une autre ?

How do I keep the wrap from shrinking before I get done with my solder joint? Are there heat wraps that activate at a higher heat?

I find that using a rectangular, one-sided razor blade instead of scissors makes for straighter/cleaner ends, especially vs. larger diameter tubing.

Some alternate heat sources for heat-shrink tubing:

* Soldering iron. Hold the iron close to, but not touching the wrap. You may have to apply heat to multiple sides of the wrap, as the convection may not evenly reach all sides of the wrap.

* Cigarette lighter or candle flame. Not a great solution, but works if no better sources are available. If you let the flame touch the wrap, you can end up with soot depsoited on it. Soot will wipe off easily, but it is easy to burn the wrap and wire, even setting the insulation on fire, if you are careless and let the flame sit too long in one spot or for too long.

I want to repair a wire but it is attached to a hefty plug one end, and adapter at the other, and the heat shrink I’ve got won’t fit over these. Any suggestions?

You would be better off using electrical tape, Heat Shrink is designed to be used on new connections such as 2 wires soldered together and has to be slid on before connecting the wires together or before a larger end connector is attached , it also needs to be the correct size for the wire being covered since it will only shrink to 2 or 3 times its original size,

In your case you would have to cut the cable, slip on the heat shrink and then solder the wires back together before using the heat shrink to cover the bare wires or you could just use a shielded connector designed to connect cables together and forget the heat shrink

You may have to cut off one of those connections and replace it with a new one after adding heat shrink to the wires.
