    • Öffne den Einschub mit dem Finger. Blase etwas Druckluft entlang der langen Seite in den Schlitz.

    • Befeuchte ein Wattestäbchen mit Reinigungsalkohol. Reibe ihn entlang über die lange Seite des Kassettenschlitzes.

    Alcohol is not going to "shine up" the pin. The secret will take 10 seconds!!!!. A worn out paper fingernail file .. I have never had a console brought back in 2 yrs

    Nice idea-- i was wondering what would fit in there between the contacts and not be too stiff so as to break anything but still offer just enough resistance and abrasion. I will surely give this a try.

I'm a Iittle skeptic to use rubbing alcohol on my N64 system and games are you 100% sure it works and won't give me any problems downs the road.

You should use isopropyl alcohol, it’s 90% alcohol and drys very quickly. I usually dunk a q-tip in, tap it against the bottle to remove any excess, then clean the surface. As long as your not pouring the alcohol directly onto your electronics you’ll be fine.

This works because water and other liquids contain minerals that are conductive, thus, by having it on a running electronic device, it will cause a malfunction/short, whatever you call it, HOWEVER, if the device is off, no electricity is flowing, thus the rubbing alcohol does what you want it to, and removes all the dirt and grime preventing your games from playing..

Up & down back & forth 1 time. Have 500 consoles in store. 8 1/2 years never had a cartridge system ever come back toy store. Takes 5 seconds & cost a nickel.

I just rub some 99% ipa on a game’s pins and jam it in and out of the console like 5 times. Works like a charm.

What if I don't have an air compressor?

Air compressor, whether in a can or a bottle rocket, is very useful for cleaning the cartridge slots, because it gets dust out of the nooks and crannies. I usually use the spray nozzle on my IPA bottle and then the air compressor to blow the IPA into those little nooks, as well as the cotton bud technique. Compressed air is easy to get hold of on Amazon. The Giottos Air Blaster is what I use. Don't be tempted to blow air from your mouth, of course.

IPA that is 90% purity or higher - mine is 99.9% - has such a low water content that you really don't need to panic about shorting things out. It dries incredibly fast, so unless you're a bit stupid or careless and pour a great glug of it onto the console for whatever daft reason and immediately power it on, it won't cause damage.

Just be wary of getting it on materials (it'll bleach them), or onto any open cuts (it's dangerous). To be on the safe side, let it air dry for 15-20 minutes or use a hand fan like I occasionally do. One other thing I do with the cartridges after cleaning them and the slot is spread a little Deoxit on the pins for an extra conductive layer. It's not entirely necessary, but I do it for peace of mind.

It's the most brilliant stuff for cleaning retro machines. I've dismantled all my eight consoles at least once and cleaned everything. Obviously it doesn't fix faulty components,but often dirt and oxidation are the culprits anyway.
